Inducted 2024
One of Vermont’s greatest soccer prodigies, male or female, Colchester’s Kristi Lefebvre played for the U.S. youth national team before going on to a four-year career and reaching the NCAA championship game with the University of Connecticut.
As a high-schooler, Lefebvre’s exploits with the Lakers made her a two-time All-America selection and Gatorade player of the year. She was a first-team all-state selection three times, including when she took Colchester to the Division I final as a senior.
Playing her club soccer for the Bethesda (Md.) Fury, with which she won a U-17 national championship in 2001, helped her earn a spot in the U.S. National Team player pool from 1998-2001, and a spot on the U-16 roster in 2000.
Lefebvre received scholarship offers from many Division I colleges and ultimately chose to play for national power Connecticut, where she helped the Huskies reach the NCAA tournament each of her four seasons. She was a regular on two Big East championship teams, in 2002 and 2004. She started 22 games for the Huskies squad that reached the NCAA title game in 2003, and was team captain in 2005, finishing her career with eight goals and 13 assists in 93 games. She was UConn’s team MVP in 2005 and was a NEWISA All-New England selection.
After college, Lefebvre played professional soccer with the New Jersey Wildcats of the W-League and the Boston Breakers of the Women's Professional Soccer League Elite Division.
Lefebvre has coached the University of Vermont women’s soccer team since 2009, first as an assistant, now as head coach. She became the second-youngest head coach in Division I when was hired following the 2010 season. She led the Catamounts to their first America East title and their second NCAA tournament berth in 2021.
