As a student at Rutland High School, Jenny Everett was a three-sport standout before excelling in field hockey at the collegiate (Wake Forest of the ACC) and national level.
As a four-year varsity player at Rutland High Everett was instrumental in the Raiders three Division I field hockey state champions in 1993, 1995 and 1996. She was named to the Burlington Free Press All-State team in 1995 and 1996 and was also a two-time high school All-American (1995-96).
She was equally as successful in track & field winning both the D-I outdoor 1500-meters and 3000-meters three times (1994, 95, 96). Everett played on the Raiders’ Division I champion boys’ varsity ice hockey team in 1996.
At Wake Forest, Everett broke six field hockey scoring records: assists in a season; goals in a season; goals in a game; points in a season; and points in a career. She was named a NFHCA College All-American in 1999 and 2000, the same two years she was named All-ACC first team. She helped Wake Forest reach the NCAA final four in 2000.
Because of her field hockey skills, Everett was named to the U.S. national under-18 team in 1996 and the U.S. national under-19 team in 1997 and 1998 when she was attending Wake Forest.
Everett was named to the GTE/Verizon Academic All-America team in 2001 and received the Marge Crisp Award as Wake Forest’s top female athlete in 2001.
She was named to the ACC 50th anniversary field hockey team in 2002. In 2014, Everett became the first field hockey player to be inducted into the Wake Forest Athletic Hall of Fame.
Beyond Wake Forest, Everett earned 12 international caps with the U.S. National Team, played in the Four Nations tournament in Japan in 2002, completed in a World Cup qualifier in 2002 and was a World Cup competitor in 2002.
