Click HERE for WCAX TV's feature on retiring Northfield High baseball coach Frank Pecora, the chair of the VtSHOF Baseball/Softball nominating committee. Capping his 38th season as the Northfield head coach, Pecora retired in June 2012 after leading his Marauders to the VPA Division III Baseball State Championship at historic Centennial Field.

Three athletes from Vermont participated in the 2012 London Olympics. Andrew Wheating, a native of Norwich, Vt., competed in the 1500-meter run (track and field); Lea Davison of Jericho, Vt. compete in mountain biking; and Courtnay Pilypaitis, a graduate of UVM who is now an assistant women's basketball coach at her alma mater, competed for Canada in women's basketball.

July 12, 2012 is the 100th anniversary of Albert Gutterson's Olympic Long Jump Gold Medal at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. Gutterson was a native of Springfield, Vermont and a graduate of the University of Vermont. He was an inaugural inductee in the UVM Athletic Hall of Fame in 1969.
